Brief History of the Department
The Department of Industrial Technical Education was a unit of the former Department of Vocational Teacher Education which happened to be one of the earliest Departments established in 1962, but now a Faculty of Vocational and Technical Education. The Department of Industrial Technical Education became a full-fledged Department on July 29, 2015 at the creation of the Faculty of Vocational and Technical Education.
Since the inception of the Department of Industrial Technical Education, the Department has developed competent and skilled teachers that work in all areas of life in Nigeria and the world over. The department has also produced many graduates at First Degree, Masters and Ph.D. levels.
The new Department of Industrial Technical Education is made up of distinct units/trades/occupational areas and offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Building and Woodwork Technology Education; Electricity and Electronics Technology Education; as well as Metalwork and Automobile Technology Education.
